Position Overview
Abel Personnel is partnering with an industry-leading client to identify an elite Account Manager for their Growth and Relationship Management division. This is a critical role responsible for owning the public sector sales pipeline across the state of Maryland.
The ideal candidate brings a sophisticated understanding of government procurement, excels at pipeline management, and utilizes data-driven capture strategies to maximize win probability. We are looking for a proactive business development professional who thrives in a collaborative, matrixed environment and is driven by long-term relationship stewardship.
Work Environment & Logistics
Our client prides itself on offering a highly flexible, mostly remote work environment that empowers team members to manage their territories effectively.
- Schedule Flexibility: Basic daily availability is expected between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM to ensure team alignment, with significant flexibility offered for work-life balance.
- Client Travel: This role requires consistent statewide travel across Maryland to interface directly with public sector clients. Gas and mileage are reimbursed for client-related trips exceeding 15 miles.
- In-Office Collaboration: To maintain team connection, you will work on-site at the Camp Hill, PA office on the first Tuesday of every month (approximately 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM).
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Development: Build and manage a robust sales pipeline of public sector opportunities to achieve and exceed growth metrics.
- Capture Strategy Execution: Lead advanced capture strategies that identify client needs early, articulate differentiated value, and maximize win probability.
- Relationship Stewardship: Cultivate trusted, long-term relationships with customers, strategic partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Account Expansion: Drive growth within assigned accounts through targeted cross-selling, upselling, and comprehensive account planning.
- Sales Intelligence: Maintain accurate, real-time data within Salesforce to inform leadership strategy and Go/No-Go decisions.
- Lifecycle Management: Facilitate seamless handoffs throughout the entire sales, proposal, and delivery lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Location: Must currently reside in Maryland and be able to travel statewide.
- Professional Experience: Proven track record in account management, consultative sales, or business development within professional services, consulting, or technology sectors.
- Process Expertise: Demonstrated experience navigating structured sales cycles, government capture processes, and managing net-new business development.
- Technical Proficiency: High proficiency with Salesforce CRM and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional analytical thinking, negotiation skills, and the ability to influence outcomes without formal authority.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep familiarity with the Maryland public sector landscape and state-level government procurement processes.
- Experience contributing to complex proposal management, solutions development, or pricing methodologies.
- Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field.
