Full Charge Bookkeeper Job – Harrisburg, PA
A growing property management and real estate company in Harrisburg, PA is seeking a Full Charge Bookkeeper to take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations. This role is ideal for an experienced bookkeeper or accounting professional who thrives in a small business environment and enjoys improving processes.
This position focuses on QuickBooks management, rental property accounting, and financial reporting across multiple residential properties. The company is looking for someone long-term who can help clean up and streamline current accounting workflows.
Position Overview
The Full Charge Bookkeeper will manage the full-cycle accounting process, ensuring accurate financial records, organized systems, and timely reporting. This individual will work independently while collaborating with the property management team in Harrisburg, PA.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable (no collections required)
- Track rental income, tenant payments, and security deposits
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks
- Clean up and improve existing accounting systems and workflows
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Use Excel to track financial data and support reporting
- Collaborate with the property management team on rent rolls, vacancies, and tenant balances
- Track property-related expenses, including maintenance and capital improvements
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking
- Prepare documentation for external accountants/CPAs
- Support payroll processing if needed
- Ensure compliance with financial procedures and reporting standards
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper, Senior Bookkeeper, or Accounting Specialist
- Experience with property management, real estate, or rental property accounting strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (required)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a small business environment
- Strong communication skills and professionalism
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
