Abel Personnel is seeking two Debt Verification Officers to support a critical, time-sensitive initiative at a state-affiliated housing agency dedicated to delivering financial relief to homeowners across Pennsylvania. These are 3 to 6-month contract positions with no extension or permanent hire anticipated, ideal for professionals with experience in mortgage servicing, collections, or accounts payable who thrive in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
This role is integral in verifying and validating delinquent debts, ensuring accurate data collection and communication between the agency, applicants, and external vendors including mortgage servicers, utility providers, and local tax offices.
Position Details:
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Location: Fully onsite in Harrisburg, PA
- Pay Rate: $25/hour
- Duration: 3 to 6 months, no extension or permanent hire
- Openings: 2 positions available
- Start Date: As soon as candidates are available
Key Responsibilities:
- Review benefit eligibility by validating application data and supporting documentation
- Develop and maintain relationships with program applicants and vendors (mortgage servicers, tax collectors, utility providers, etc.)
- Perform onboarding and setup for new vendors when necessary
- Assemble and compile verification of delinquency amounts from multiple sources (servicers, HOAs, insurance companies, etc.)
- Monitor and process data file transfers from mortgage servicers (CDF file process)
- Communicate program policy to external partners and applicants
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial and applicant records
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the mortgage industry, accounts payable, or collections
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for vendor and applicant coordination
- Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, deadline-oriented environment
