About the Role
Make a meaningful impact with your mortgage underwriting or loan processing expertise. We are seeking two dedicated professionals to join our client's Homeownership Department as Preclosing Officers. These positions are initially temporary with the potential to transition into permanent roles. Your knowledge and skills will directly support their mission to expand affordable homeownership across Pennsylvania by ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and quality of mortgage loans received from our lending partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Review residential mortgage loan files submitted by approved lenders to ensure compliance with all program, investor, and underwriting guidelines, including FHA, VA, RD, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae.
- Confirm that each loan package is complete, accurate, and saleable.
- Evaluate documentation for loans with suspensions or conditions, ensuring issues are properly resolved before closing.
- Collaborate with lenders and internal teams to resolve underwriting and documentation questions efficiently.
- Serve as a resource for network lenders and business partners by providing guidance on programs and investor requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of agency and investor updates, mortgage regulations, and secondary market trends.
- Participate in team discussions to identify process improvements and best practices that enhance loan quality and efficiency.
- Perform special assignments and other duties as assigned by Homeownership leadership.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; relevant professional experience preferred.
- 1-3 years of mortgage loan processing or underwriting experience.
- Strong collaboration, analytical, and math skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with loan processing software.
- Excellent communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and handle multiple priorities.
Job Requirements
- Relevant professional experience (1-3 years) in mortgage loan processing or underwriting.
- Ability to work in Harrisburg, PA, with potential for hybrid teleworking based on team needs.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to compliance standards and maintain accuracy under deadlines.
