We are hiring a Pre-Closing Officer I to join our Homeownership Programs Division in Harrisburg, PA. This position plays a critical role in reviewing residential mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with underwriting and investor guidelines prior to closing.
This opportunity is ideal for professionals with experience in mortgage processing, underwriting, or residential lending seeking career advancement in the housing finance industry.
Key Responsibilities of a Pre-Closing Officer
- Review mortgage loan files submitted by lenders prior to closing
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines for:
- FHA loans
- VA loans
- RD (Rural Development) loans
- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
- Ginnie Mae programs
- Evaluate suspended and conditionally approved loan files
- Communicate directly with lenders to resolve documentation and underwriting issues
- Answer questions from lenders and business partners regarding loan programs
- Stay current on mortgage industry regulations and investor guidelines
- Participate in team meetings and complete assigned projects
Requirements for Pre-Closing Officer Position
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in residential mortgage lending
(loan processor or mortgage underwriter experience preferred) - Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Strong knowledge of mortgage underwriting guidelines and loan documentation
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
