Linux Systems Administrator / Network Administrator
Location: Harrisburg, PA
Schedule: Full-time, onsite
Compensation: $80,000-$90,000 annually

About the Role
A leading technology-driven organization in Harrisburg, PA is seeking a hands-on Linux Systems Administrator / Network Administrator to support a mixed enterprise infrastructure environment. This role requires a strong Linux administrator first — someone who can confidently troubleshoot Linux/RHEL servers, review system performance, manage services, understand permissions, review logs, and support production Linux systems.
This position also includes support across Windows ServerVMwareActive DirectoryOffice 365DNSDHCPGroup PolicyLAN/WANVPNs, firewalls, switches, monitoring tools, and general enterprise infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is not just someone who has “used Linux.” This person should have real hands-on experience administering Linux systems in a business or enterprise environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers, with strong preference for RHEL / Red Hat Enterprise Linux 
  • Troubleshoot Linux performance issues involving CPUmemorydisk space, running processes, services, and system logs 
  • Use Linux commands and tools such as topdf -hfree -mpssystemctljournalctltailchmod, and chown 
  • Support Linux user permissions, file ownership, service failures, patching, upgrades, and server/application troubleshooting 
  • Maintain and support Windows Server environments 
  • Support virtualized infrastructure, including VMware 
  • Administer Active DirectoryOffice 365ExchangeDNSDHCP, and Group Policy 
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WANVPN, VoIP, switches, firewalls, routing, and network connectivity 
  • Support enterprise applications, infrastructure tools, SQL Server, Citrix, and monitoring platforms where applicable 
  • Assist with patching, backups, upgrades, system hardening, documentation, and performance improvements 
  • Use monitoring tools such as SolarWindsZabbixBMC PatrolTivoli, or similar platforms 
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, infrastructure projects, and continuous improvement efforts 
  • Support occasional field work and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation 
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on systems and network administration experience 
  • Strong hands-on Linux administration experience 
  • Experience supporting RHEL / Red Hat Enterprise Linux strongly preferred 
  • Ability to troubleshoot Linux servers using logs, services, permissions, processes, disk, CPU, and memory checks 
  • Experience with Windows Server 
  • Experience with VMware 
  • Experience with Active DirectoryOffice 365ExchangeDNSDHCP, and Group Policy 
  • Network administration experience with LAN/WANVPN, switches, firewalls, VoIP, and connectivity troubleshooting 
  • Scripting or automation experience with BashPowerShellVBScript, or similar tools 
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills 
  • Must be able to work fully onsite in Harrisburg, PA 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Cisco and/or Fortinet 
  • Experience with Citrix 
  • Experience with SQL Server 
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as SolarWindsZabbixBMC Patrol, or Tivoli 
  • Experience supporting regulated, high-availability, or security-sensitive environments 
  • Experience with system hardening, audit support, vulnerability remediation, and incident response
