This is a fast-moving opportunity with a flexible schedule, supporting a well-established infrastructure team on network configuration, monitoring, and performance. The role will not convert to perm, so candidates must be comfortable with a contract engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure and support routers, switches, firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet, SonicWall, Ubiquiti)
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced network issues with minimal oversight
- Monitor network health using tools such as Zabbix, SolarWinds, and ServicePRO
- Perform patching, backups, and system updates across network-connected servers
- Install and maintain structured cabling, wireless access points, and VoIP equipment
- Maintain accurate documentation for infrastructure, changes, and standard procedures
- Handle Tier 3 support escalations and assist with infrastructure upgrades or migrations
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in hands-on network engineering (not Tier 1 or general IT support)
- Experience with routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and strong Layer 2/3 knowledge
- Ability to work confidently with various hardware brands, not just Cisco
- Familiarity with monitoring tools including Zabbix, SolarWinds, and ServicePRO
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Clean, professional résumé with no outdated technologies, fluff, or buzzwords
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid certifications such as CCNA, Fortinet NSE, Network+
- Experience in secure or compliance-heavy environments (HIPAA, DoD, RMF)
- Exposure to cloud-connected networking or Office 365/Azure integrations
Not a Fit For:
- Candidates with outdated or overly buzzword-driven resumes
- Systems administrators without recent, relevant network engineering experience
- Applicants who lack hands-on familiarity with network monitoring tools
- Candidates who cannot demonstrate adaptability across network platforms
