About the Role
We are seeking two motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as PHARE Program Interns, working as Program Officers. These positions are essential to supporting the Office of Strategic Planning and Policy (OSPP) in implementing housing and community development initiatives. Candidates will play a vital role in researching, analyzing, and providing feedback on funding proposals from organizations requesting grants.
 
These roles are temporary and will require candidates to work on-site at our Harrisburg office. The positions are ideal for individuals with a keen eye for detail and the ability to handle research and policy reviews meticulously.
 
Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with the Planning and Policy team to support application development for federal and private funding opportunities.
  2. Assist in promoting internal grant programs through data analysis, marketing, outreach, and site visits across the Commonwealth.
  3. Review, analyze, and provide constructive feedback on funding applications submitted by organizations.
  4. Maintain and update databases tracking funding applications, awards, and progress reports.
  5. Support program setup, administration, and compliance.
  6. Perform additional duties assigned to support program goals.
 
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  1. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret policies and conduct thorough research.
  2. Experience with soft underwriting processes and evaluating grant proposals.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Proficiency in math and advanced MS Excel skills.
  5. Attention to detail and accuracy in completing assignments.
  6. Ability to read through policies and provide meaningful, constructive feedback.
  7. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  9. Adaptability to new technology and software applications.
 
Job Requirements
  1. High School diploma required; additional education or experience preferred.
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  4. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  5. Willingness to work on-site at our Harrisburg office during the contract period.
