Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado (onsite with some travel required)
Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Salary Range: $110,000 – $150,000 (commensurate with experience)
Relocation Bonus: Approximately $5,000 available

Overview
Abel Personnel is hiring on behalf of our client for a Site Engineer to support the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The Site Engineer will be responsible for analyzing, preparing, and reviewing site-level engineering designs and technical documentation for hardware and system installations supporting C2BMC operations. This position requires strong systems and hardware engineering experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a small, focused engineering team supporting critical defense infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze hardware characteristics and system requirements to ensure designs meet operational and environmental standards.
  • Prepare and review rack-level designs, site drawings, and technical plans to support installation and configuration efforts.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with C2BMC teams, ensuring clear communication and coordination of site activities.
  • Conduct and document site surveys to support system installation and integration at both domestic (CONUS) and international (OCONUS) locations.
  • Perform hardware configuration validation, including evaluation of power, heat, and weight requirements.
  • Support hardware integration, cabling, and layout optimization to meet design and security standards.
  • Create, review, and maintain technical documentation using Microsoft Visio and other diagramming tools.
  • Collaborate with network engineers, system administrators, and program leadership to deliver high-quality products on schedule.
  • Support site readiness and installation activities by coordinating logistics, hardware verification, and compliance checks.

Required Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance (must be current and in good standing).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • Early to mid-career hardware or systems engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Visio for rack and site layout design.
  • Familiarity with DoD drawing standards and drafting practices.
  • Working knowledge of rack-mounted computing and networking equipment, including servers, switches, and cabling systems.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly present technical findings and plans.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deliverables with limited supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Juniper network hardware or similar systems.
  • Previous site installation or integration support experience within a DoD or defense contractor environment.
  • Knowledge of environmental analysis methods (power, heat, and weight calculations).
  • Familiarity with hardware lifecycle management and infrastructure readiness assessments.
