Overview
Abel Personnel is hiring on behalf of our client for a Systems Architect to support the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program within the Missile Defense and Space mission areas.
This is a high-impact role where you will join a multi-company, integrated architecture and systems engineering team designing next-generation command and control capabilities for the Department of Defense. The selected candidate will define and develop operational, physical, functional, and technical architectures that shape the vision and implementation of evolving C2BMC capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain System Architecture solutions and concepts for new and emerging C2BMC capabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with lead systems architects, software architects, network architects, and cybersecurity engineers to design integrated solutions.
  • Define and model operational, functional, and technical architectures for both Missile Defense and Space mission systems.
  • Analyze high-level mission needs and translate them into structured, logical architectural frameworks and documentation.
  • Communicate and collaborate across diverse technical teams, including software development, network engineering, cyber, infrastructure, DevSecOps, testing, and deployment.
  • Present architecture concepts and system design solutions to internal and external stakeholders, including project leads, product owners, and MDA representatives.
  • Support design and architecture reviews, ensuring consistency across system components and alignment with program objectives.
  • Contribute to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities using tools such as CAMEO.
  • Maintain awareness of current and emerging DoD command and control technologies, COTS/FOSS products, and architecture design methodologies.

Required Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance (must be current and in good standing).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience developing system or enterprise architectures for Department of Defense or aerospace programs.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering processes, including requirements analysis, integration, and validation.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate operational requirements into system-level architecture and design artifacts.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience briefing technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work in a multi-contractor, multi-discipline team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting the C2BMC or Missile Defense System (MDS) programs.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as CAMEO or Enterprise Architect.
  • Background working with DevSecOps environments and cloud-based architectures.
  • Knowledge of DoD interoperability standards and architecture frameworks (DoDAF).
  • Experience integrating COTS/GOTS software components in large-scale defense systems.

Why Apply
This is an exceptional opportunity to work on a cutting-edge defense program that directly supports U.S. national security. You will collaborate with some of the industry’s leading technical professionals to design, develop, and implement systems that drive innovation across missile defense and space operations.
